The heart behind HART - Laura Heigelmann

Updated: Apr 5

We're starting a new blog series focused on the wonderful people behind the scenes, who help us fulfill our mission of assisting our at-risk neighbors experiencing homelessness move toward self-sufficiency and greater independence.

Meet Laura Heigelmann, our new Program Director!

Laura spent many years with San Juan Unified School District as the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act liaison, working to provide unhoused students the same educational opportunities as housed students through enrollment and education support.

During her career, Laura also volunteered regularly with HART of Orangevale and Fair Oaks, loving the work she was doing to assist our vulnerable population right here in her hometown.

She has recently retired from SJUSD, which opened up her schedule to join HART of Orangevale and Fair Oaks as the Program Director. Laura has a big heart as well as a big vision of how we can help our unhoused neighbors flourish through efforts with HART. Her organizational skills and fantastic energy will serve to continue the impactful work we carry out in our community.

We're excited to see the positive influence Laura is having on our outreach programs!
